The Port Washington Farmers’ Market is celebrating its twentieth year in continuous operation! Located at the Town Dock, it is a busy place on Saturday mornings when tents pop up like mushrooms as farmers and other vendors set up for the market. The market is open every Saturday, rain or shine, from June through November, 8 a.m. until noon.
Port residents and visitors from nearby communities enjoy the selection of organic vegetables and fruits, fish, breads, baked goods, pasta, cheeses, pickles, flowers, organic coffee, teas, and honey, among other artisanal food and personal care items. A small café under a tent allows shoppers a chance to meet friends for a snack or just sit and enjoy the view on the beautiful waterfront.
Port Washington-based non-profit, Grassroots Environmental Education, created the market with the goal of supporting sustainable agriculture and local access to healthy organic, seasonal food, two issues that they work on, along with other local, national, and global environmental health issues.
